Are visas required to enter the Schengen Area?
For U.S. citizens with valid passports intending to travel within the Schengen Area for three months or less can apply to enter without a visa. For longer stays, travelers may need a Schengen short stay visa, which allows the holder to travel within the Schengen Area for no more than 90 days in any 180-day period.
What are the entry requirements for Schengen Area Countries?
- A valid passport, issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least 3 months (recommend 6 months) beyond the traveler’s intended departure date from the Schengen Area.
- Applicable visas and supporting documents if required.
- Proof of adequate financial resources for the duration of the stay, and any relevant information regarding travel and accommodations in that time.
- Short stay visa applicants must hold travel insurance covering emergency medical care, hospitalization, and repatriation (known as ‘Schengen Visa Insurance’). Most travel insurance offered through us will meet the Schengen Visa Insurance requirements. Ask us if you’re unsure if the policy you want has adequate coverage.
However, some Schengen Area countries may have additional entry requirements. Travelers are advised to contact the embassy of the Schengen Country or Countries they intend to visit to determine what applications to file and to obtain the full entry requirement list, including travel insurance requirements.
When traveling, be sure to carry copies of travel documents and take care to understand the entry requirements specific to their trip. It is also wise to carry trip protection in the event of border delays and travel interruptions.

Quote for travel insurance - Easy
I requested a quote on line and it came quickly. I had some questions and did an online chat with Katrina. She was very polite and helpful in answering my questions. I wanted to increase my medical coverage to 500,000 in Mexico and make sure they paid the facility either by promise to pay or prepay which ever is required. She asked an agent to call me and within a few minutes Melanie called. She was friendly and knowledgeable and of course answered the rest of my questions and updated the quote and secured the policy. I spent several hours researching travel insurance and compared the top 3 quotes on my own. I still did not have what I wanted and found your company. It took under 30 minutes to get this policy and I feel very confident I am covered. Of course I hope I do not need to use any of it, but I have peace of mind knowing we are covered. I will update my review after my trip if you send me a link for a google review.
